The Council will be carrying out emergency road repairs along Western Way on Saturday 2nd September 2023. To safely facilitate these works, the westbound carriageway of Western Way will be closed between White Hart Avenue and Belmarsh from 8am, with a signed diversion route being via Eastern Way/Harrow Manorway. Vehicle access will be maintained to/from Battery Road, Belmarsh and around the traffic signal ‘roundabout’ next to Belmarsh. Pedestrian and cycle access will not be restricted along the Western Way footpaths. It is expected that the road will reopen on Saturday night, however this may extend until Sunday depending on the weather.

We have also contacted key stakeholders including London Buses, the emergency services and Woolwich Crown Court to inform them of the work. In addition, a Variable Message Sign (VMS) informing motorists of the closure will shortly be erected along Western Way.
