Community Fridge
A community fridge is a public refrigerator where individuals and businesses can leave perishable and non-perishable food items that are completely free for anyone to take.
It operates on a principle of sharing and reducing food waste, allowing people to donate food that is near its 'use by' date but still perfectly safe and nutritious to eat. The primary goal of a community fridge is to make food more accessible to everyone, particularly those in need, while fostering a sense of community and mutual aid.
The Glyndon Community Centre community fridge (sponsored by Plumstead & Glyndon, Woolwich Arsenal and Woolwich Common Ward budgets) is open every Thursday from 10:00am - 12:00pm for any residents who find themselves in need.
It's a resource meant to support individuals and families by providing free access to food, thereby helping to alleviate food insecurity in the community. Whether you're facing financial difficulties or other challenges that make it hard to access sufficient food, the community fridge is there to help, no questions asked.
It's a testament to the community's commitment to taking care of one another and ensuring that everyone has access to the basic necessity of nutritious food.
Unauthorised Development
We’ve launched a new online reporting tool allowing people to report concerns about unauthorised development across the borough for the Council to investigate.
Examples include; building without planning permission, not following planning conditions, or making changes that weren’t agreed on during planning permission.
Streetlink London
StreetLink London exists to help end rough sleeping in the capital by enabling members of the public to connect people sleeping rough with the local services that can support them.
How does it work?
If you are concerned about someone over the age of 18 that you have seen sleeping rough in London, you can use the button above to send an alert to StreetLink. The details you provide will be reviewed by the StreetLink team who will look at the information and make a judgment as to whether the alert is suitable to be sent to the local street outreach for the area in which you have seen the person, to help them find the individual and connect them to support.
It is important to note that if you think the person you are concerned about is under 18 please do not contact StreetLink but instead call the police.
If you think the person you are concerned about is in immediate danger, is under 18, or needs urgent care, please call 999.
